L.B.L.I. Finals 2012
Well its all over for another year and what a week for Crumlin, Senior Single Champion Pat Darcy, Senior Doubles Champions Margaret Mc Nevin & Noeleen Kelly, Junior Triples Champions Paula Russell, Brenda Daly & Liz Maher, Junior Fours Runners Up, Patricia Geoghegan, Phyllis O’Callaghan (Sub for Evelyn White) Claire Carroll & Brenda Daly. If that wasn’t enough Brenda Daly was awarded Junior Bowler of the Week.
Senior Singles Pat Darcy v Rose Brown (DL) Crumlin Winner
The final was between Pat Darcy and Rose Brown. It started off evenly matched end for end and then Rosie started to pull away at one point leading by 5 shots. Pat started slowly to catch up and ran out winner 21-17
Senior Pairs Margaret McNevin & Noeleen Kelly V Ann Gillen Murphy & Marian Hoey Crumlin Winners
This was yet again another nail-biter. Crumlin ladies were ahead for a few ends, back and forth with Marian, then they found themselves 20-15 down. After 19 ends they were losing by 3 shots 20-17, on 20th end they got one shot to be behind 20-18 and in the last end they got 3 shots to win the game and championships 20-21.
Junior Triples – Paula Russell, Brenda Daly & Liz Maher v Mary Cummins, Margaret Doyle & Ann Reid (Westmanstown) Crumlin Winners
The Crumlin Ladies started very well and pulled away from the beginning and held a lead at one point of 11-2. Knowing from experience as both of these team play against each other in the Evening league that is no cushion against Anne and her team. In true fashion Westmanstown came back fighting and going into the last end it was 15-12 to Crumlin. Westmanstown had the shot but they also had 5 bowls in a cluster and any movement of the jack would give the game to them. The rain came down but Crumlin held on to win the game 15-13.
Junior Fours Patrica Geoghegan, Claire Carroll, Phyliss O’Callaghan & Brenda Daly V Greystones Crumlin Runners Up
Greystones pulled away from the beginning and were leading 13-1, then Crumlin won seven ends in a row but it was not enough as greystones ran out winners
